"Your Account Blocked": The Truth About Fake KYC SMS

Banks never ask you to update KYC via a link in SMS. Here is why you keep getting them.

The Message: "Dear Customer, your SBI account will be blocked today due to invalid KYC. Update immediately at: sbi-kyonlin-update.com"

This is the most common banking scam in India. It creates instant panic. You think, "I can't lose access to my money!" and click the link.

💡 Fact Check: Genuine bank links always start with https://www.onlinesbi.sbi or hdfcbank.com. They never use cheap domains like .xyz, .info, or .top.

What happens when you click?

The link opens a fake website that looks identical to your bank's login page.

It asks for:

  1. Username & Password
  2. Mobile Number
  3. OTP (One Time Password)

Once you enter the OTP, the scammer (who is watching in real-time) logs into your actual bank account and transfers your funds.

RakshaLink's Protection Layer

RakshaLink doesn't wait for you to spot the fake URL. Our AI does it for you.

We analyze the URL structure (e.g., detecting "sbi-kyc" as a keyword string in a non-SBI domain) and the SMS sender ID (e.g., a personal mobile number instead of a bank header like AD-SBI).
