"Quishing" (QR + Phishing) is rising in India. Scammers paste their own QR codes over legitimate ones at shops, parking meters, or send them via WhatsApp.
Common QR Traps
1. The "Free Gift" QR: You receive a pamphlet saying "Scan to claim your free smart watch".
2. The Fake Parking Meter: Scammers sticker their own payment QR over the official parking sign.
3. The WhatsApp Lottery: "Scan this QR to verify your bank account for the prize money."
Why Standard Scanners Fail
Most camera apps just show you the link. They don't tell you if it's safe.
RakshaLink's QR check:
When you choose a QR code inside RakshaLink, the app shows what it contains and checks available risk signals before you decide whether to continue. Depending on the QR type, it can look for:
- Malicious URL patterns
- Known phishing domains
- Direct APK download links
No scanner catches every threat. Confirm the payee name and amount in your official UPI app before approving a payment.
